Robert J. Jones Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center

Located in North Minneapolis, the Robert J. Jones Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC) links the University of Minnesota in vital public partnership with urban communities to advance learning, improve quality of life, and discover breakthrough solutions to critical problems. Since opening its doors in 2009, UROC has worked to build thriving, innovative, and respectful collaborations, create new models of urban and community development, and strengthen the University as a vitally engaged 21st-century university serving the public good.

In Black Ink

In Black Ink is a publishing arts initiative that provide opportunities for communities that have been disenfranchised historically, and continue to be presently. IBI’s cultural literacy programming mitigates the damage of economic, educational, and cultural inequities that are the result of past and current prejudice and discrimination.

BECOME A COMMUNITY PARTNER

IN ORDER TO GET THE HIGHLIGHT THE DIVERSITY WITHIN BLACK COMMUNITIES ACROSS MSP, WE NEED YOU HELP.

We need local businesses and organizations to help distribute surveys to Black people who live in Minneapolis/St Paul. If you are willing to become an official partner and aid in the survey distribution process (for example, display fliers/ pass out fliers/provide word-of-mouth recommendations) we can compensate you for your time and provide you with project updates before they are released to the general public. Contact Project Lead Danielle Brown to learn more.
